Cool “Angry Birds” Pipes
KultureVA.com has just released a new line of pipes modeled after a character from the famous smart phone game Angry Birds. America is hooked on Angry Birds. The highly addictive game is probably the only thing beating weed as a cause of workplace inefficiency.
The pipes are super cool and are bound to be a major hit. I don’t know why no one thought of this earlier. Pipes and pop culture go together like stoners and fast food drivethroughs; a match made in heaven.

Medical Marijuana Display at Michigan Municipal League 2010 Capital Conference

The Michigan Municipal League hosted its annual Capital Conference April 13-14 in Lansing. The event was for League members and non-members and focused on the legislative issues taking place in Lansing that impacts Michigan communities. The two-day event included sessions on the Michigan Medical Marijuana law, revenue sharing, tax reform, the importance of transportation, the Michigan governor’s race, the Complete Streets initiative and many other issues. It also was a chance for League members to meet with our Lansing staff and other community leaders. For more information go to www.mml.org. Michigan Municipal League Has Session on Michigan Medical Marijuana Act

The Michigan Municipal League had a seminar on the "Michigan Medical Marijuana Act and Your Community" at the Wyoming Public Library in Wyoming, Michigan, Feb. 10, 2011. This was one of several workshops on this issue. The session featured several attorneys highly knowledgeable on the medical marijuana law and issues facing Michigan communities. A general theme of the session was that ordinances being crafted in communities should focus on stopping abusers of the law while allowing those who are truly using marijuana for medical reasons. Those speaking were Mike Woodworth of the Hubbard Law Firm; Matt Newburg of Newburg Law PLLC; Stuart Dunnings, Ingham County prosecutor; Jerry Lax, attorney with Pear Sperling; Jeff Sauter, Eaton County prosecutor; Brig Smith, Lansing city attorney; William Mathewson, general counsel for the Michigan Municipal League and Matt Bach, director of communications for the Michigan Municipal League. The event was attended by about 40 community officials from throughout the state, including mayors, city managers, village supervisors, council members, attorneys and police officials. The Michigan Municipal League attended the Michigan Senate Judiciary Committee Meeting Tuesday (June 21, 2011) in support of bills relating to Michigan’s Medical Marijuana Act (MMMA). Samantha Harkins, legislative associate for state affairs for the League, testified, along with Gerald A. Fisher, professor of law at the Thomas M. Cooley Law School and author of a white paper for Michigan communities about the medical marijuana issue. Following the hearing, the committee reported two bills (SB 377 and SB 418) amending the Medical Marijuana Act. Senate Bill 377 (http://legislature.mi.gov/documents/2011-2012/billintroduced/Senate/pdf/2011-SIB-0377.pdf) would give law enforcement officers access to patient information to allow officers to verify that an individual as a patient. Senate Bill 418 (http://legislature.mi.gov/documents/2011-2012/billanalysis/Senate/pdf/2011-SFA-0418-S.pdf) prohibits a private cause of action under the MMMA against the state or a local unit of government. Harkins testified that the League supports the revised legislation, but said additional clarifications are needed. The medical marijuana law, since approved by voters in November of 2008, has been a challenge for Michigan communities and League members trying to enforce the law. Just found this map regarding the legal uses and future interests of marijuana use, etc. Not a smoker myself, but found it interesting. Know it could potentially help with IBS, specifically, for me, crohn’s disease… Interested to see how things play out in Ohio.
