Medical Marijuana’s Hazy Law Issues

There’s a pretty thin line that isn’t that hard to cross, when you’re talking about the lawfulness of drugs. While illegal drug use is mostly associated with such substances as marijuana, cocaine, heroin, and similar drugs, the main problem the society faces is the abuse of the substances that are lawfully obtainable with, or even at times without doctor’s prescription – prescription drugs. Frequently, people deploy drugs at times of no need – just to relax before a stress situation, to have a better sleep on a relatively lengthy flight, and even to not fall asleep at night due to various reasons.

But despite this, our society decides to concentrate on the fact that Medical Marijuana License has gained legal prescription opportunities, such as the issuance of medical marijuana card to a patient, rather than focusing on its own carelessness. South Park to Air Medical Marijuana Episode Tonight!

In tonight’s episode, the South Park KFC has been replaced with a medical Marijuana dispensary. For South Park fans and Marijuana lovers, this is a must see. Who knows where Trey Parker and Matt Stone are taking this one. I’m hoping that it can shed some positive light on medical Marijuana. The more MMJ hits pop culture, the more attention it gets. I’m glad to see the South Park producers are helping to get the ball rolling.

The Michigan Municipal League had a seminar on the "Michigan Medical Marijuana Act and Your Community" at the Wyoming Public Library in Wyoming, Michigan, Feb. 10, 2011. This was one of several workshops on this issue. The session featured several attorneys highly knowledgeable on the medical marijuana law and issues facing Michigan communities. A general theme of the session was that ordinances being crafted in communities should focus on stopping abusers of the law while allowing those who are truly using marijuana for medical reasons. Those speaking were Mike Woodworth of the Hubbard Law Firm; Matt Newburg of Newburg Law PLLC; Stuart Dunnings, Ingham County prosecutor; Jerry Lax, attorney with Pear Sperling; Jeff Sauter, Eaton County prosecutor; Brig Smith, Lansing city attorney; William Mathewson, general counsel for the Michigan Municipal League and Matt Bach, director of communications for the Michigan Municipal League. The event was attended by about 40 community officials from throughout the state, including mayors, city managers, village supervisors, council members, attorneys and police officials.
